Since returning to Sydney in 2017, Jeremy has established a strong profile within the Australian contemporary art scene, becoming a multiple-time finalist and award recipient across a range of prominent Australian art prizes. His achievements include multiple Archibald Prize finalist selections and the 2022 Archibald Prize People’s Choice Award for his portrait of Samuel Johnson OAM. He is also the winner of the 2015 Marie Ellis Drawing Prize and the 2013 Marie Ellis Drawing Prize People’s Choice Award, alongside finalist selections in the Clayton Utz Art Award and Bluethumb Art Prize.

Jeremy has developed a particular reputation for painting prominent Australian figures, creating portraits of acclaimed actors, musicians, entertainers and public figures including Rai Thistlethwayte, Firass Dirani, Samuel Johnson OAM, Pia Miranda, Richard Roxburgh and Felix Cameron.

Following his 2022 Archibald Prize People’s Choice Award, Jeremy undertook an extensive Australian media tour, appearing across television, radio, print and online media. His work and career have since been featured across more than 30 Australian media outlets. He has appeared as a guest presenter on Network 10’s Have You Been Paying Attention? and has been featured as a question on The Chase Australia. Jeremy has also spoken publicly about his artistic practice and career at the Art Gallery of New South Wales.

While portraiture has played a significant role in Jeremy’s practice, his work also encompasses highly detailed still-life painting. His recent solo exhibitions, including Obsidian at Audrey Fine Art in 2023 and Press Pause with Studio Gallery, have focused on still life, exploring themes of nostalgia, memory and the significance of familiar objects.

Jeremy is represented in Australia by Studio Gallery Group and regularly runs oil-painting workshops, sharing his technical approach to portraiture and still-life painting with other artists. His workshops explore traditional oil-painting techniques including underpainting, glazing and the development of highly refined detail.

His combination of fine-art credentials, portraiture of prominent Australian figures, award recognition, public speaking, teaching and extensive media experience has allowed Jeremy to engage with audiences well beyond the traditional gallery setting.
